Spertiniite on Malachite
$265.50
Specimen # 922027
Specimen Locality: LEtoile du Congo Mine, Lubumbashi, Katanga, Dem. Republic of Congo
Mineral Description: At first glance, this could be mistaken for chrysocolla on malachite. I purchased a small lot of these from Don Olson Minerals in Denver this year. He had the blue mineral analyzed and it came back as spertiniite, not Chrysocolla. Spertiniite is a rare copper hydroxide mineral named after Francesco Spertini. The contrast between the baby blue spertiniite and dark green malachite balls is striking. Height: 9 Width: 5.5 Depth: 4.5 cm
