Specimen Locality: near Daye, Hubei Province, China

Mineral Description: A plate of matrix which is covered on one side with gemmy clear 2-3 mm calcites. Perched in the middle of this is a single doubly terminated 3.6 cm long calcite. The calcite has some interesting inclusions of iron-oxide within the top part of the crystal, giving it the light brown color you see. The back side of the specimen has been shaped with a dremel, but you cannot tell this from the front. Dimensions: 6 x 6 x 3 cm
