Specimen Locality: Sunnyside Mine, San Juan County, Colorado
Mineral Description: This mine, also known as the American Tunnel Mine, Gold King Mine, Washington Mine and many others), was started in the late 1880s and closed in the 1930s. The mine is famous for a disaster in 1978 where the bottom of Lake Emma collapsed and flooded the mine. This is a nice specimen of two different generations of rhodochrosite with minor pyrite. Excellent condition. Height: 4 Width: 5.5 Depth: 9.5 cm
